 Bangladesh has much natural historic beauty. Kuakata Sea Beach is one of the great historic beauties of beautiful Bangladesh. It is a beach resort with rare scenic beauty spot on the southernmost tip of Bangladesh from where both sunrise and sunset can be enjoyed unobstructed. The wonderful sea beach Kuakata is located in Kalapara Upazila, Patuakhali District. It is about 320 kilometers south of Dhaka, the capital, and about 70 kilometers from the district headquarters. It is the second largest sea beach in Bangladesh and number two tourist destination in the country. Kuakata beach is a sandy expanse 18 kilometers long and 3 kilometers wide.

There is a legend about the name, Kuakata. Being driven from Arakan many Rakhains settled along the coastline in the 1780s. Being deprived of fresh water, they dug a well for it and they were successful in managing fresh water for drinking. Thus they gave the name of the place, Kuakata.

At Kuakata excellent combination of the picturesque natural beauty, sandy beach, blue sky, huge expanse of water of the Bay, coconut garden and evergreen forest in really eye-catching. On the eastern end of the beach is Gongamati Reserved Forest, an evergreen mangrove forest and snippet of the original. Choosing to visit Gangamati in the late afternoon is a perfect time to watch the sun cast shadows on the abstract exposed mangrove roots. Kuakata sea beach, locally known as daughter of sea, the long strip of dark, marbled sand stretches. The long and wide beach at Kuakata has a typical natural setting. It is truly a virgin beach-a sanctuary for migratory winter birds. This sandy beach has gentle slopes into the Bay of Bengal and bathing there is as pleasant as is walking or diving. That perhaps makes Kuakata one of the world’s unique beaches.

 Fishing community comes here in makeshifts settlement to prepare dried fish on the eastern beach in winter season. Alipore is the biggest fishing trade center in this region. Over the sea many Colorful sailing Boats and Blue sky increase its beauty. The wonderful beauty of Kuakata Sea Beach that the Sunrise and walking in the beach. Kuakata is one of the rarest places which have the unique beauty of offering the full view of the rising and setting of crimson sun in the water of the Bay of Bengal in a calm environment. In the morning the beach offers fresh air and also offer bath and play with the waves in the sea shore. In the beach one may also play Football and Volleyball. At the end of the day the sun going to sets into the sea water creating wonderful scenery that fill the heart with joy. At night the beauty of full moon in here is inexpressible. Tourist may go for fishing by fishing boat with the help of local fisherman and also can visit fishermen villages located near the sea beach to know their activities and life style. There have many fresh fish like Hilsa and it is very testy fish.
 
Kuakata is the place of pilgrimage for both Hindu and Buddhist communities. Innumerable devotees arrive here at the festival of Rush Purnima and Maghi Purnima. On these two occasions the pilgrims take holy bath at the bay and participate in the traditional fairs. Visitors enjoy the traditional fairs and the bath. Many people visit Kuakata with an archaeological interest, as there are several old Buddhist temples visible. One may also visit the 100 years old Buddhist Temple at Keranipara, Misripara and Amkholapara where the statue of Goutama Buddha and two wells of 200 years old are located. Rites and rituals and many other cultural aspects of the local rakhain community make a good tourist attraction. Kuakata is becoming a major tourist attraction for both local and foreign tourists. As the tourism is starting to flow around the Kuakata’s beauty, a handful of hotels have structured around the Kukata premises.
